The Next Generation of Skilled Construction Professionals
At Woodlands College, Alcema provided a student with a structured work-experience placement on the live construction project at the Woodlands Campus. Working alongside our bricklaying subcontractor, he became part of the team delivering the brickwork for the college extension and gained valuable practical experience of the trade.
To help him continue developing his skills and support his progression into the industry, Alcema presented him with a toolbox and bricklaying equipment at the end of the placement.
The activity provided him with meaningful hands-on experience, strengthened his understanding of construction-site safety and gave him greater insight into future employment and apprenticeship pathways.
Before entering the working area, he completed Alcema’s site health and safety induction, helping him understand the controls, behaviours and safe working practices required on a live construction site. Throughout the placement, our project team and bricklaying specialists provided supervision, practical guidance and insight into the skills and standards needed to pursue a career in bricklaying.
He approached the opportunity with enthusiasm, professionalism and a genuine willingness to learn. Despite early starts, physically demanding days and a lengthy daily journey, he consistently demonstrated dedication, resilience and a strong work ethic. His positive attitude, maturity and commitment made him a valued member of the site team throughout the placement.
