We are proud of the many and prestigious commercial projects we have managed and these are increasing in volume and value since our inclusion within the LHC Framework in October 2021.

Stunning Design with a Spectacular Finish

We work closely with design consultants to build spectacular and high-quality facilities which we believe is clearly demonstrated in our portfolio. We care about making sure our builds meet requirements, but we also care about creating stunning finishes.

Better building, better business.

All Alcema projects have been delivered within deadline whilst any changes to timeline made by the client have been seamlessly.

Agility and Speed

100% of all Alcema projects have been delivered within deadline (*any exceptions to this has been at client’s request or agreement).

As an SME we have greater agility and can respond to problems without the hurdles many other construction companies experience. Our fluidity in project management enables us to identify problems, provide solutions and most importantly get these actioned – all at great speed. This fast-responding system ensures we continue to keep our exemplary reputation for meeting deadlines.

Tailored Approach

Each sector we work in requires a unique and tailored approach and we have developed a thorough understanding of each different environment. This enables us to carry out our work effectively whilst causing minimal disruption to the day-to-day activities of those who work and live around us.

Complex Plant for Complex Builds

Industrial projects often require high spec engineering plant. The team is well equipped to perform more complex feats of engineering such as installing a tower crane through a building. The project was based in central London and the building is completely surrounded by other buildings. By installing a large tower crane on site we were able to complete demolition and piling operations whilst the building remained in operation. It also involved working closely with Westminster Council who authorised a road closure and managed rerouting traffic and pedestrians appropriately.

Live Environments

Working within live environments is one of the factors which sets us apart. Often our commercial clients require staying operational throughout the build which brings extra challenges and additional health and safety measures.

An example of this is the recent Starbucks drive-through at Beaconsfield Services which we completed in June 2019. This contract involved the design and build of the new Starbucks including the associated car park within the boundary of the live service motorway. The new unit was built on the exit northwest of the service area where all vehicles that visit the facilities pass through. With meticulous planning and attention to detail we were able to complete this project on time and to budget, with zero Health & Safety issues encountered throughout the build.

Additional Experience

‘A few further examples of our most recent commercial work include a new a Cat B office fit out for the Civil Aviation Authority, Haringey Council, Heron Tower, Bishopsgate as well as projects for Nando’s and Pizza Express, click here for more details

Governing Bodies

The Alcema team has completed many projects working closely alongside Local Authorities, English Heritage Trust and Transport for London (TFL).

A £13.5 million project the Alcema team has been involved in required the refurbishing of all the existing rooms of Hotel Indigo, a 16th century, Grade II listed property. Phased over 2 years this included stripping back the historic Tudor building to its timber frames in order to protect and preserve it for posterity. The logistics of the project were extremely challenging on all sides and were coupled with the application of heritage restoration requirements. Paul Reeve our Divisional Director handled this with the skill and expertise he is known for throughout the industry.

We carefully navigate during design and build to ensure sustainability of our future as well as protection of our history.

Current Commercial Projects

An example of a current project we are working on is a £4.5m Civil engineering project on the London Gateway with a national distribution company. This project involves driving 600 concrete piles up to 30 metres deep into the external yard areas. As well as deliver this project without interfering with the day-to-day operations of the client there is the added logistical challenge of navigating around unexploded World War Two Media.

By carrying out UXO intrusive surveys of each and every pile location our project will be delivered in exactly the same way as every other commercial project we have worked on – in a collaborative way which is solution based and customer driven.
